    I did stop it for 2 weeks early in the treatment due to having to take a coupld other drugs that seemed to give me side effects. I just quit the plaquenil to give my liver a rest at that time. Plaquenil isn a antiparasitic drug with anti-inflammatory affect.

    I can't believe you were told to stop taking plaquenil after only 6 months since it can take up to one YEAR to achieve full benefits!     I'm assuming that you're taking this for autoimmune disease. I don't believe that you risk dangers like you would with suddenly stopping a beta blocker or something along those lines. 200mg is a low dose and Plaquenil is generally regarded as a mild drug anyway compared to Methotrexate, etc. Hello all, I am currently new to this site and ran across the discussion about stopping Plaquenil.     I have to take 2 pills a day, 5 days a week (400mg/day). I had tried breakfast and before bed but breakfast I didn't have enough in my stomach and dinner, I'd forget and take it right at bed when my stomach was a little too empty.
