    Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine is commonly used to help keep mild lupus-related problems, such as skin and joint disease, under control. this drug is also effective at preventing lupus flares. I am allergic to plaquenil too. I went through about a 6-8 month period of trying different combinations of meds to figure out what works for me to keep the Lupus under control.
