    I've read numerous horrible things about the side effects of this drug, but I know it is necessary to prevent more damage to my body. I am currently on 20mg of Prednisone a day and was chastised by my new doctor about being on such a high dose as kidney issues are common with my disease.

Actually one of the rare side effects is myopathy, which is muscle weakness. My Optho and the research I did online tells me the retinal toxicity is very rare-- but of course that doesn't help if you are the rare one. MCTD is rare too and here we are.
